barry rees

Barry Rees, Chief Executive Officer

Barry is an Engineer, with an MBA from Melbourne University (1981). His corporate career includes senior roles with a large corporate in Australia, Europe and USA, including the building and reconstruction of factories in Switzerland, Egypt, Algeria and Australia.

He led the business development of EDS in Australia, including major outsourcing contracts. More recently, Barry has been involved in business start-ups, and turnarounds, including leading R&D teams in the development of intellectual property.

Ray Shaw, Chief Technology Officer

Ray Shaw completed his PhD in Extractive Metallurgy at the University of Melbourne and after two years post-doctoral research at Imperial College in London joined Rio Tinto in 1978. He spent the next 30 years focused mainly on technologies for improved processing of minerals and metals with particular emphasis on reducing energy.

During his years with Rio Tinto (formerly Comalco) Ray held several senior technical roles including Chief Advisor Technology - Energy & Climate Group, General Manager - Technology Support and Chief Scientist - Comalco Research & Technology.

After leaving Rio Tinto, aside from his role with MetSol, Ray is active with several universities, providing consulting services in minerals processing R&D. He is widely involved in the minerals processing technical community within Australia and internationally.

brenton_davey

Brenton Davey, Engineering Manager, B.Tech (Mech Eng), Ass Dip (Mech Eng)

Brenton has 12 years' experience in Engineering design with a focus on R&D and machine design. Known for his hands on approach his experiences range from 1000ÂșC rated steel structure design, testing and production through to PLC programming and machine automation. He holds patent and design registrations, and has experience in plant layout and flow analysis. He has worked as Engineering Manager in a wide range of plants generally on metal processing industry.

In several of his roles Brenton has been responsible for the technical liaison with China suppliers for all quality and manufacturing issues and as such has travelled extensively. Brenton is currently responsible for all aspects of the R&D and Engineering programme for MetSol.

 Peter Robinson

Dr. Peter J. Robinson, Technical advisor and North American Representative

Peter has over 30 years experience in the metals based chemical industry and has held management posts in R. and D., plant operations, sales and marketing prior to forming Integrated Resource Management. He is recognised as a world leading expert in zinc oxide production and use.

He was born and educated in the U.K. and currently resides in Canada. After completing a Masters degree in Electrochemistry, he worked at Durham Chemicals Ltd. managing process and product research teams that developed zinc and other metal based products which were sold and licensed on a global basis.

In 1991 Peter set up a consulting company specializing in the area of resource recovery serving primarily the metals ( zinc, lead and steel ) industries, working for clients globally. Peter has also been a speaker at many conferences and is an internationally recognized expert in zinc chemical technology. He is the holder of several patents related to the manufacture and recovery of metal based chemicals and pigments.

Chelsea Symons, Analytical Chemist, BTFA

Chelsea graduated from Flinders University, South Australia specialising in Forensic & Analytical Chemistry. Prior to joining MetSol, she was a veterinary scientist at the NATA accredited IDEXX laboratories responsible for processing specimens utilising a variety of analytical equipment. Chelsea also has university research experience. Chelsea is responsible for managing the laboratory, logistic, analysis and data management.

Richard Shaw, Chemical Engineer, BE(hons), BSc

Richard is a graduate from the University of Melbourne with a double degree in Chemical Engineering/Science. He has been involved with leaching, digesting, and solvent extraction research projects on many metallic systems including Zinc, Iron ore, Copper, Alumina, Titanium, and Uranium processes at Rio Tinto's Thomastown and Bundoora research facilities.

Prior to working with MetSol he was a process control engineer at Rio Tinto's Boyne Aluminium Smelter outside of Gladstone. Richard is responsible for chemical engineering technical support.

Stephanie Anderson, Analytical Chemist, BTFA, HBSc

Stephanie is a graduate of Flinders University, South Australia specialising in Forensic & Analytical Chemistry with Honours in organic chemistry. Stephanie is responsible for laboratory experiments and analysis of data.

Graeme Nitschke

Graeme Nitschke, Pilot Plant and Workshop Technician

Graeme is a qualified sheet metal worker with over 30 years in various industrial operations. Originally working in equipment installation, Graeme moved to G.H Michell working with the chemical processing of wool at their Salisbury Plant and became a shift supervisor. Graeme has completed Front line management, and has various heavy machinery licenses. Graeme is currently responsible for installation and operation of all Metsol pilot plant equipment.
